STARTING AND STOPPING ENGINE
Note: Operating engine on a steep angle will cause the
engine to lose lubrication and seize.
Review “safety and warning precautions” and “pre-operation
inspection” sections before starting engine.
Manual-Start Engine
1. Move the fuel valve lever to the ON position.
2. Move engine to a well-ventilated area, always outdoors, to
prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
3. Move to an area away from ames or sparks, to avoid ignition
of vapors if present.
4. Remove all debris from air cleaner holes and fuel cap to
ensure proper air ow.
5. Move throttle 1/3 of the way toward the highest speed
position.
6. Close the choke lever:
• Iftheengineiscoldortheambienttemperatureislow,close
the choke lever fully. SEE FIGURE 5.
• Iftheengineiswarmortheambienttemperatureishigh,
open the choke lever half-way or keep it fully open. SEE
FIGURE 4 AND 3.

WARNING
CARBON MONOXIDE GAS IS TOXIC. INHALATION CAN
CAUSE UNCONSCIOUSNESS AND DEATH.
NEVER LEAVE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE UNATTENDED.
CAUTION
DO NOT STOP ENGINE BY MOVING CHOKE CONTROL
TO CHOKE. BACKFIRE, ENGINE DAMAGE, OR FIRE
MAY OCCUR.
